When Friendly Stitches Sew & Vac opened its doors in May 2012, Jon Hoekema and Ellyn Nicodem envisioned a store that would interact with and benefit the community. They discovered the need for a cheerful and reliable shop in which guests could buy and service sewing machines and vacuums at a fair and honest price. They do not sell new sewing machines and vacuum cleaners over the internet because they want to talk about your needs with you and find the best solution together.

In order for that to happen, they knew that they needed the right people. They put together a team of people with good character and plenty of experience. Mary West and Karen Hatley joined the team for sewing and embroidery. Bill and Al,  are all certified repair technicians and have taken over the service of the sewing and embroidery machines while Jon and Mike take care of the vacuums. Vacuums

Friendly Stitches offers vacuum service and tune-ups plus new upright, compact, and canister vacuums from top brands like Miele and Riccar. They have bags and supplies for most makes and models in the store as well.

Sewing & Embroidery

Friendly Stitches also services and carries a wide variety of powerful and versatile Sewing, Quilting, and Embroidery machines including designs and supplies. Don’t forget to ask about the free lessons that come with a purchase, to teach you about your new machine. They carry most products you need for your hobby as well as many that simply make the job easier!  If there is something they don't have in stock, they will order it and get it to you within a week.

Sharpening Services

Sharpen your scissors, pinking shears, kitchen cutlery both Western and Japanese. Serrated Knives and all the top Brands such as Wusthof, Henckels, Chicago Cutlery, Global, Shun and many more. They can also sharpen most hunting, fishing, pocket knives, and garden tools! Drop off your items by 5 PM on Mondays, sharpening will be completed on Tuesdays and available for pick-up on Wednesdays, after 3 PM.

Classes and Events
Want to learn something new and meet other sewers? Sign up for classes and events and join in on an informative and fun time.
