Sewing Projects for Fall

It’s hard not to be inspired by the sounds and sights of fall. With the warm colors, cozy smells, and classic patterns that come with the autumn holidays, there are so many reasons to celebrate the season! And what better way to celebrate than with a few new sewing projects?

Whether you’re making a gift for a loved one or just trying to add some festive décor to your home, there are tons of fabulous sewing projects that even the most inexperienced sewers can do to get in the fall spirit!

Pull out your sewing machines and get out your craft kits! Consider making some of our favorite sewing projects this fall:

·       Fabric Pumpkins. Bring the season into your home with some cute fabric pumpkins! Use old fabric around the house, or purchase some in your favorite fall patterns and color schemes. Other than the fabric, you only need some poly-fill to stuff your pumpkin, colored thread, your sewing needles or machine, and some scissors! Use this template to make some easy fabric pumpkins.

·       Napkins and Napkin Rings. If you’re starting to think about your Thanksgiving table, then napkins and napkin rings are the project for you! These are some of the simplest crafts you can make, as all they require are your fabric of choice and your basic sewing kit. Just think how impressed your guests will be when they see your festive, beautiful, homemade napkin sets! Go the extra mile by creating your own napkin rings—with just some leftover fabric or burlap and a little ribbon. DIY napkin rings are an easy yet charming fall sewing project that you’ll surely use for years.

·       Table Runners. This year, go the extra mile with your Thanksgiving décor by making a custom table runner! Table runners can make a difference when creating that homey Thanksgiving aesthetic, and you’d be surprised at how easy they are to make on your own. Use a quilting pattern to add soft texture to the table or burlap for a more rustic feel.

·       Coasters. Coasters are a wonderful way to add autumn flair to your home. Use a quilting pattern with seasonal fabrics and patterns, or even consider shaping your coasters into familiar fall shapes. We love seeing coasters in the shape of leaves, acorns, or even turkeys!

·       Tote Bag. There’s a reason tote bags are the go-to accessory of the season! Use it for trips to the farmers market, picking apples at the orchard, or carrying your kids’ candy while trick-or-treating. Whatever you decide to use your tote for, one thing’s for sure: no one will have your one-of-a-kind tote bag!
